Team 23 Degrees/Trek rider Dennis Dertell put his name in the history books as his rode his FUNN equipped Trek Remedy 29’er to an outright victory with a total time of 29mins 45.74 seconds, 15 seconds ahead of Niklas Wallner in 2nd.

The world famous winter and summer resort town of Are, in Sweden, host to the 1999 World Mountain Bike Championships, last weekend played host to the Are Bike Festival of which the inaugural Scandinavian Enduro Championships, also known as Nordic Championships, was a main feature. The event attracted a quality field including the world class Wallner brothers and Oliver Kangas all of Sweden.

Oliver Kangas was 3rd, Robin Wallner 4th and Tapio Kymalainen of Finland in 5th.

After the race Dennis said: “I had a great feeling all day but also had a few moments too. Overall I rode smart and I managed to get away with the win. It was the first ever Scandinavian Championships so it feels really good to get hold of that medal. All the top contenders have been riding up here quite a lot over the past few years, and Robin Wallner lives up here and knows the mountain really well, so I knew it was going to be a tough race against those guys.

It’s been over 5 years sense I've been to Are riding, and it's definitely one of the top spots in Sweden. Right now I feel really good on the bike I and can't wait for the next EWS in France later this month”.
