Angel Suarez Signs with 23 Degrees Sports Management
Published 06 Oct 2015
Spain's latest downhill sensation Angel Suarez Alonso has signed a multi-year management deal with 23 Degrees this week after visiting the company’s headquarters in Granada.
The 19 year old from Vigo surprised a lot of people when he finished 16th at the Lenzerheide World Cup, wearing bike number 129.
While his arrival to World Cup Downhill racing is very recent (this year was his first complete year), he is no stranger to two wheel sports having raced Moto Cross for many years. His record in Moto Cross in Youth and Junior categories is impressive with dozens of national level podiums in both Portugal and Spain.
Angel has demonstrated that he has the ability to race at the top 20 in World Cups and is keen to take on another full season next year.
Angel says: “I am very happy to sign this new management deal with 23 Degrees. My career in downhill racing is not so long, but already I want to achieve as much as possible in the World Cup and other major races. Having a manager like Martin who has managed some of the greatest riders of the sport is very exciting for me and I’m looking forward to some exciting opportunities for 2016 and onwards”.
Martin Whiteley says: “I was really impressed with Angel’s performance on the Lenzerheide track. Prior to that we’d heard quite a bit about him in the Spanish press as he tackled some Junior World Cups, but he hadn’t really found his feet yet and was still learning the sport. The past year however he’s shown that he has real potential and I’m excited to work with a rider from my adopted homeland.”
