After finishing 11th at World Cup Round 2 in La Bresse (FRA), many thought the weather had worked in the favor of Californian wunderkid Kyle Strait. Bad luck in the races that followed didn't help, but after yesterday's World Cup qualifier in wet and slippery conditions of Bromont (CAN), many of Kyle's peers in the pit area were praising his 18th place.
Today Kyle showed that even though the conditions on the course were mixed, and many riders were having trouble, he improved on his 18th to finish 16th place, his 3rd best career result in World Cup racing.
"Yeah I'm really happy today. Since La Bresse I might have been putting too much pressure on myself and hitting trees, puncturing and stuff, but this weekend was all about conquering the mud, something I have to do to become a better World Cup racer. I'm working hard with my coach and I have a lot more to do in the off season for 2010. This year was all about re-establishing my downhill race career and I'm pretty stoked today, especially when I see some of the guys around me on that result sheet. We all had the same condiions on both days."
